Rookery Isles' ArcheAge 3.0 carpentry guide: turn Lumber into furniture, bows and instruments, cut Stone Brick, and feed your house build.

Three woodworking-and-stone vocations on Rookery Isles: Carpentry shapes Lumber into furniture, instruments, farm gear and bows; Masonry turns raw stone into Stone Brick and finer stonework; Construction crafts the material bundles that raise your house.

Requirements

This craft itself has no character-level requirement. You can smelt, process, and craft at any level if you have the materials. The catch on Rookery Isles is that the raw materials come from world gathering (Mining, Logging, Gathering, Farming, Husbandry, Fishing), and all of those are gated at Character Level 52, so in practice a self-supplied crafting career begins at Level 52. You can still craft earlier from purchased or traded materials.

The three vocations at a glance

Rookery Isles runs the ArcheAge 3.0 "Revelation" ruleset (AAEmu 3.0.3.0 NL0bP fork). Of the 22 player vocations, three live in the woodworking-and-stone family, but they do different jobs and even sit on different proficiency bars. Do not conflate them.

Read this first, the single most common mix-up: turning a Log into Lumber is filed under Carpentry, done at the Sawmill Station, not a Carpentry Workbench. Chopping the tree in the first place is a separate gathering vocation called Logging. Carpentry begins where Logging ends, with Lumber in your bag. And the second mix-up: ships, cars and gliders are NOT Carpentry. They look wooden, but vehicles, ships and gliders are built under the Machining vocation at a Shipyard or Carpentry Workbench using the Assemble skill. Carpentry: from Lumber to finished goods

Carpentry is actability group 18. It has roughly 457 craft recipes, and they fall into two clean halves.

Half one, processing (the Sawmill step). This is the base conversion every woodworker leans on:

Bulk variants exist for clicks, not savings (the ratio never improves): 30 Log to 10 Lumber for 50 labor, 300 Log to 100 Lumber for 500 labor. Which station you use changes the proficiency gate, and this trips people up: at the Sawmill Station the ×10 recipe (craft 5344) gates at Master (50,000) and there is no ×100 Sawmill recipe at all. The same bulk jobs run far cheaper to unlock at the Complex Processing Shelf, where ×10 (craft 7561) gates at Amateur (10,000) and ×100 (craft 7577) at Veteran (30,000). The single-unit recipe (craft 83) has no gate at all, at any station: you can make Lumber from your first point of Carpentry.

Half two, finished goods (the Workbench step). Once you have Lumber (and Fine Lumber for higher tiers), the Carpentry Workbench and its upgrade, the Regal Carpentry Workbench, are where it becomes furniture, instruments and farm gear. Roughly 200 finished-goods recipes run at these two benches; about the same number run portable (no fixed station) directly from the proficiency window.

Carpentry is the single biggest furniture vocation on the server. The bulk of housing decoration (beds, chairs, tables, bookshelves and woodgrain pieces) is woodwork. Many entry pieces have zero proficiency gate, so you can decorate a starter cottage almost immediately; fancier "Merchant's," "Monarch's" and "Sovereign's" lines climb the proficiency ladder.

The progression is a clear theme across Carpentry furniture: the base item is ungated and cheap, while the prestige variants demand higher proficiency and the Regal Carpentry Workbench.


Worked example: a Brown Hardwood Bed

A concrete, server-verified recipe so you know exactly what to gather. (Source: crafts/craft_materials/craft_products.)

  • Step 1. Gather Logs by chopping trees (Logging). Cedar is the most abundant tree on the server and a fine, everywhere-available Log source. See the Logging & Lumber guide.
  • Step 2. At a Sawmill Station, run 3 Log → 1 Lumber (craft 83, 5 labor). You need 4 Lumber for one bed, so 12 Logs.
  • Step 3. Source the side materials: 2 Fabric (#8256) (Tailoring, 3 Wool or 10 Cotton each at a Weaving Loom) and 10 Handicraft Yarn (#27545) (a Handicrafts material).
  • Step 4. Acquire the Brown Hardwood Bed Design (#8582), the blueprint item that seeds the recipe.
  • Step 5. At a Carpentry Workbench, craft: 1 Brown Hardwood Bed Design + 4 Lumber + 2 Fabric + 10 Handicraft Yarn + 1 Coin → 1 Brown Hardwood Bed (#4014), for 20 labor (craft 64).

That single bed touches three vocations (Logging, Carpentry, Tailoring/Handicrafts), typical of ArcheAge crafting, where finished goods pull refined materials from across the trade web.


Bows, instruments and farm equipment

Carpentry is not only decor. Three other product families belong here:

Bows. Ranged weapons are wooden, so the bow upgrade chain is Carpentry, crafted at the Carpentry Workbench, not the Anvil where melee weapons (Weaponry) are forged. Bows follow the same linear tier ladder as crafted armor and weapons: each step consumes the previous bow plus escalating Archeum and refined wood. Worked example for the Volcano Bow line (Craftsman's tier, craft 5204):

  • 1 Apprentice's Volcano Bow (#20453) + 8 Sunlight Archeum Dust (#16347) + 10 Lumber + 2 Copper Ingot (#8320) + 3,000 Coin → 1 Craftsman's Volcano Bow (#20454), 150 labor, Carpentry Workbench.

Higher tiers (Artificer's, Artisan's, Conqueror's; crafts 5205 to 5207) escalate to 200/250/300 labor and richer Archeum, mirroring the crafted-gear ladder. The full upgrade path tops out at the Ayanad tier (the Conqueror's bow is the last craft-recipe tier; the Illustrious through Ayanad steps are Machining reforges). There is no Erenor or Hiram bow in this build.

Musical instruments. Bards craft their own instruments through Carpentry's Craft Musical Instrument path (skill 12128), portable (no fixed station), 100 labor per step. Instruments build in tiers from a Log-and-Lumber base up through Fine Lumber and Sunlight Archeum. The Sovereign's Piano (#8172) carries an actability_limit of 300, a low sub-rank proficiency threshold you clear almost immediately, so it is not a meaningful wall. Instrument families cover the usual lute/flute/drum/harp roster; because several intermediate instrument records ship with blank display names in our client data, treat specific mid-tier instrument item IDs as unverified and just craft up the visible tier you want.

Farm equipment and structures. Scarecrow gardens and the Farmer's Workstation are crafted at the Carpentry Workbench. These belong to the Construction vocation (below), not Carpentry proper: the Construction Skill (id 27237) builds a Farmer's Workstation (#26550) from a Scarecrow Garden Design plus Lumber (craft 5410), and reverses a Farmer's Workstation back into a Scarecrow Garden Design (#15596) (craft 5598), both at the Carpentry Workbench, 25 labor each, no proficiency gate. Once placed, that Farmer's Workstation is where you bind seeds and build woodlots (see Farming & Crops and Logging & Lumber).


Masonry: stone into building blocks

Masonry is actability group 14, the stone counterpart to Carpentry. It is a smaller vocation (about 72 recipes) but a foundational one, because Stone Brick feeds every masonry house wall and the construction economy.

The core processing chain runs at the Stonemason Workbench (and bulk at the Complex Processing Shelf / Multipurpose Workbench):

Where the Raw Stone comes from: rock veins, mined with the Mining vocation. Stone gathering is covered in the Mining & Ore guide. Masonry begins once Raw Stone is in your bag, exactly as Carpentry begins with Lumber.

Beyond bricks, Masonry crafts a long line of decorative stonework and a few specialty items, most gated at low proficiency:

The Stone Pack (#17684) is a trade pack (100 Stone Brick bundled for haulage) and connects Masonry to the trade-pack economy.


Construction: the build-material vocation

Here is the subtle one. Construction is actability group 2 and lives in the client's Misc. tab, alongside Larceny, Commerce, Artistry and Exploration, not the Crafting tab. People often describe it as "the building-speed vocation," and it is true that it is not a furniture bench. But on this server the Construction vocation owns a very concrete set of ~20 craft recipes: the material bundles and designs that actually raise a building.

The four backbone bundles (skill Craft Construction Material, id 27039, all at the Carpentry Workbench, 25 labor, no proficiency gate):

Construction also crafts farm and garden designs (Scarecrow Garden, Improved/Gazebo farm designs via skills Construction Skill 27237 and Craft Construction Design 27041), plus realm-level supply bundles and certificates (Tax Certificate, Building Management Title) at specialty benches.

The practical takeaway: Construction is the vocation you raise by building things and crafting build-bundles. It is the glue between your raw materials (Lumber from Carpentry, Stone Brick from Masonry, Iron Ingot from Metalwork, Fabric/Leather from Tailoring/Leatherwork) and a finished house.


What feeds housing

Putting the three vocations together, here is the full material flow into a house on Rookery Isles. (Housing tiers, taxes and the catalog of house types are in the Housing & Land guide.)

A house comes in two flavours:

  • Full Kit designs place instantly: no build steps, no bundles. Drop and done.
  • Design items require a foundation, then feeding the four construction bundles through the build steps.

So for a Design-type build, the supply chain is:

Beyond the shell, Carpentry and Masonry furnish the interior: every house has 40 decoration slots, and the largest share of decor (beds, tables, shelving, stone columns, statues) is exactly what these two vocations produce. A handful of furniture pieces are functional, embedding a crafting bonus when placed; Carpentry contributes several of these workbench-style decorations.

Re-roofing and restyling an already-built house also consumes these bundles: a cottage restyle, for example, eats 2 Construction Brick Bundles + 2 Wooden Beam Bundles + 2 Construction Tool Bundles plus Enchanted Blueprints. So a steady supply of bundles is useful long after move-in day.

Private workbenches you can own: an 8x8 housing plot can hold a Private Sawmill (#18472) or Private Masonry Table (#18471), your own processing station, taxed at the 8x8 workbench tier (5 silver per week). Handy if the public benches near a craft hub are always crowded. Instrument crafting and many Construction bundles are portable or Carpentry-Workbench jobs, so a Private Sawmill plus access to any Carpentry Workbench covers most of the woodworking pipeline.


Proficiency, labor and gates

All vocations share Rookery's verified Labor Points and proficiency rank ladder (source: expert_limits). The first six ranks:

The ladder continues up through Champion (90k), Adept (110k), Herald (130k), Virtuoso (150k), Celebrity (180k) and on to Legend at 1,000,000. Recipe gates (actability_limit) line up with these caps, so a recipe "gated at 50,000" means it unlocks at Master rank in that vocation. Smaller gate values (25, 100, 200, 300, 5,000) are sub-rank proficiency points you reach long before the Amateur cap.

Key facts for these three vocations:

  • Most base recipes are ungated. Lumber (craft 83), Stone Brick (craft 115), every basic chair/table, and all four Construction bundles unlock at proficiency 0. You can start the moment you pick the vocation.
  • The gating that matters is on prestige goods (Regal-bench furniture, Refined Hereafter Stone at Master, high-tier statues) and on bulk processing recipes. Note that the bulk gates depend on the station: the ×10 Lumber recipe at the Sawmill Station needs Master (50,000), while the same ×10 at the Complex Processing Shelf needs only Amateur (10,000) and the Shelf's ×100 needs Veteran (30,000).
  • Higher rank = cheaper actions. The proficiency system reduces labor cost as you climb, but the exact per-rank reduction is not cleanly exposed in our data, so treat the direction as confirmed and ignore any specific "% off at rank X" claim you may read elsewhere.
  • Labor costs are verified. Lumber 5, Fine Lumber 10, Stone Brick 5, Sturdy Stone 10, basic furniture 10 to 20, Construction bundles 25, the Volcano Bow craft tiers 150/200/250/300. These are read straight from skills.consume_lp.

There is no character-level gate on the crafting itself. The fork's data carries recommend_level = 52 on nearly every craft, but that is an inert upstream label on the bench work: it does not lock smelting, processing or crafting, so you can build at any level if you have the materials. The real constraint is upstream of the bench: the world gathering that supplies your raw materials (Logging for Lumber, Mining for Raw Stone and Iron Ore) requires Character Level 52 on Rookery. So you can craft from Level 1 with purchased or traded materials, but a self-supplied career begins at Level 52.


On Rookery Isles

A few places this server differs from stock ArcheAge 3.0 or from outdated community guides:

  • World gathering requires Character Level 52. Mining, Logging, Gathering, Farming, Husbandry and Fishing all carry a Level 52 requirement that the client enforces, so the Logging and Mining that feed your Carpentry and Masonry are not usable until Level 52. The crafting benches themselves stay ungated: you can process and craft earlier if you buy or trade for the raw materials.
  • recommend_level = 52 is meaningless on Carpentry/Masonry/Construction recipes. It is a label on ~10,043 of 10,145 crafts in the data, not a gate.
  • Brand: this is ArcheAge 3.0 "Revelation," not Erenor (that was patch 3.5, after our client). The top crafted tier here is Ayanad; there is no Erenor or Hiram crafted gear, bows included.
  • Vocation spelling: it is Carpentry, Masonry and Construction exactly; sibling vocations are Metalwork and Leatherwork (never "Metalworking"/"Leatherworking").
  • Per-tree log yields (e.g. "Cedar gives 6 to 9 logs") are community-reported, not server-confirmed: the bulk yield lives in loot tables not present in our database. Cedar being the most abundant tree, however, is confirmed.
