Classes & Skillsets Overview
Rookery Isles uses the ArcheAge 3.0 (Revelation) class system: pick a race, then mix any 3 of 10 skillsets to become one of 120 named classes. This is the hub that explains all of it.

How the Class System Works
ArcheAge does not lock you into a single class at character creation. On Rookery Isles, running ArcheAge 3.0 "Revelation," your combat identity is built from two independent choices:
- Step 1. Choose a race. Race determines your appearance, your lore background, and your starting zone. It does not lock your combat role.
- Step 2. Choose skillsets. As you level you select 3 skillsets out of 10. The specific combination of those three gives your character a fixed named class.
Because the name is tied purely to which three skillsets you carry, every player who runs the same three skillsets shares the same class name, regardless of race or the order in which they picked them. There are exactly 120 possible classes (the number of ways to choose 3 skillsets from 10), and every one of them has a unique name in the game data. The full list is in the table below.
This is the single most important thing to understand about combat on Rookery: your "class" is not picked from a menu, it is assembled from skillsets, and you can change it later by resetting and re-picking. If you are brand new, start with the new player guide, then come back here when you reach the first skillset choices.
The 6 Playable Races
Rookery Isles allows 6 creatable races. Two further races (Returned and Fairy) exist in the game data but are not selectable when you make a character, so you cannot roll them.
| Race | Creatable | Genders | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nuian | Yes | Male, Female | Classic western human-style race. |
| Dwarf | Yes | Male, Female | Stout western race. |
| Elf | Yes | Male, Female | Long-lived western race. |
| Harani | Yes | Male, Female | Eastern race. |
| Firran | Yes | Male, Female | Eastern feline race. |
| Warborn | Yes | Male, Female | Eastern warrior race. |
| Returned | No | n/a | Exists in 3.0 data but not a creation choice on this build. Lore only. |
| Fairy | No | n/a | Exists in data, not creatable. NPC/system race. |
With both genders, that is 12 creatable character templates in total.
On race and combat: race choice on Rookery is best treated as cosmetic and lore, not a power decision. Public ArcheAge wikis list specific per-race stat perks (for example "Elf mana regeneration" or "Dwarf extra health"). Those exact numeric perks could not be confirmed in this server's data, so we do not publish them here. Pick the race you want to look at and role-play; it will not gatekeep your class or your build.
On factions: the classic "Nuia versus Haranya" two-faction split is canonical ArcheAge lore, but on Rookery the in-game factional structure is superseded by the Houses system (see guild system and taxes and housing and land). Do not assume your race hard-locks you into a faction war alignment here.
On starting zones: this NL0bP 3.0 fork uses customized start points that differ from the canonical newbie tutorial zones you may have read about on other wikis. Where you spawn is set by the build, so follow the in-game tutorial rather than old public-wiki start locations. The world atlas covers zones in detail.
The 10 Skillsets
A skillset is a tree of active and passive abilities built around a combat role. There are 10 player skillsets on Rookery. The roles below are summarized from each skillset's signature abilities.
| # | Skillset | Role | Example signature skills |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Battlerage | Melee physical damage | Battle Focus, Frenzy, Sunder Earth, Charge, Precision Strike |
| 2 | Witchcraft | Crowd control, debuffs, hybrid utility | Lassitude, Bubble Trap, Enervate, Insidious Whisper, Purge |
| 3 | Defense | Tank and shield | Invincibility, Redoubt, Shield Slam, Mocking Howl, Bull Rush |
| 4 | Auramancy | Mobility, defensive buffs, teleports | Teleportation, Protective Wings, Liberation, Shrug It Off |
| 5 | Occultism | Magic damage over time, summons, control | Hell Spear, Crippling Mire, Summon Wraith, Stillness |
| 6 | Archery | Ranged physical damage | Double Recurve, Concussive Arrow, Snare, Missile Rain |
| 7 | Sorcery | Ranged magic damage | Freezing Earth, Meteor Strike, Arc Lightning, Flamebolt |
| 8 | Shadowplay | Stealth, gap-closers, utility | Stealth, Freerunner, Toxic Shot, Overwhelm, Counter Strike |
| 9 | Songcraft | Group buffs, healing songs, support | Hummingbird Ditty, Dissonance, Rhythmic Renewal, Alarm Call |
| 10 | Vitalism | Primary healing | Antithesis, Revive, Resurgence, Mend, Mirror Light |
A note on transformations: the game data contains two extra "skillset" entries for a dragon transformation kit and a Juggernaut (mech) transformation kit. These are special transformation abilities, not part of the 10 pickable skillsets, and they do not count toward the 120-class math. You do not choose them as one of your three.
How to think about composition: every workable build pairs a damage or healing engine with at least one survivability or utility skillset. The common pillars are:
- Defensive backbones: Defense (hard tank) and Auramancy (mobility plus self-defense). Most durable PvP builds carry one of these.
- Damage engines: Battlerage and Archery (physical), Sorcery and Occultism (magic).
- Control and disruption: Witchcraft and Shadowplay.
- Support and sustain: Vitalism (heals) and Songcraft (buffs and song heals).
For curated, role-by-role recommendations see power builds, and for opinion-based rankings see the class meta tier list.
Picking 3 Skillsets Forms Your Class
When you have all three skillset slots filled, the game assigns a named class based on the exact trio. A few worked examples, all verified against this server's data:
| Skillset trio | Resulting class |
|---|---|
| Battlerage + Auramancy + Shadowplay | Darkrunner |
| Archery + Auramancy + Shadowplay | Primeval |
| Witchcraft + Sorcery + Shadowplay | Daggerspell |
| Defense + Auramancy + Occultism | Skullknight |
| Witchcraft + Auramancy + Vitalism | Hierophant |
| Battlerage + Witchcraft + Defense | Hexblade |
| Battlerage + Witchcraft + Auramancy | Hex Warden |
Order does not matter: Battlerage + Auramancy + Shadowplay is Darkrunner whether you pick Battlerage first or Shadowplay first. The full mapping of all 120 combinations is in the master table.
Spelling matters when you search builds. The server uses these exact strings: Hexblade (one word), Hex Warden (two words), Dreadnaught (spelled with "aught"), and Blade Dancer (two words). Outdated guides mix these up; trust the table below.
Levels and Skill Points
These are cumulative totals: the number of skill points you have available in total once you reach that level, not a fresh grant handed out at each milestone.
| Fact | Value |
|---|---|
| Maximum character level | 55 |
| Total skill points at level 1 | 1 |
| Total skill points at level 5 | 4 |
| Total skill points at level 10 | 7 |
| Total skill points at level 50 | 23 |
| Total skill points at level 55 | 28 |
| Cost of an individual skill | 0, 1, or 2 points |
As you level you accumulate skill points and spend them inside your three chosen skillsets to unlock and rank up abilities. By level 55 you have 28 points in total to distribute, so the bulk of your build comes together over the full climb to cap. For the fastest route to cap, see the leveling guide.
On Rookery you are not forced to dump points into a single tree. You may spend skill points freely across all three of your picked skillsets. There is no rule that you must invest a minimum in one tree before touching another. Build the hybrid you actually want.
Ancestral skills: ArcheAge 3.0 includes an "Ancestral" augment layer in canonical lore. The exact unlock condition for it could not be confirmed in this server's data, so treat any specific "unlocks at skillset level 55" claim as plausible but not server-confirmed. Check in-game before planning a build around it.
Unlocking and Resetting Skillsets
You do not get all three skillset slots at character creation. You open them as you level and earn your way into the second and third picks.
The exact unlock levels and any reset fee on this build were not confirmed in the server data, so the cadence below is described as general ArcheAge behavior, not a Rookery-verified number. Treat it as a guide and confirm the precise levels in-game.
- First skillset: chosen at the start, very early in the leveling experience.
- Second skillset: unlocked in the early levels (general ArcheAge cadence, not server-confirmed).
- Third skillset: unlocked a little later, once you are established (general ArcheAge cadence, not server-confirmed).
- Resetting and swapping: ArcheAge generally lets you drop a skillset and pick a different one, which re-rolls your class name to whatever the new trio maps to. A swap typically refunds the relevant skill points so you can rebuild. Exact reset cost and any cooldown on Rookery are community-reported, not server-confirmed; verify in-game.
The practical takeaway: you are not permanently stuck. If a build is underperforming, swap a skillset, consult the power builds and combat stats pages, and re-spec.

Where to Go Next
- Which classes are strong? The class meta tier list ranks builds by role. Remember that any S/A/B/C/D ranking is community opinion, not a server-confirmed balance statement.
- Ready-to-run builds: power builds gives concrete skillset trios and how to play them.
- Stats that make builds work: combat stats explains attack power, healing power, resilience, and the rest.
- New to the server: start with the new player guide and the leveling guide.
- Endgame readiness: gear progression, regrade and gemming, PvP gear and stats, and PvP and arenas.
- Keep progressing: the dailies and endgame progression loop ties it all together once you hit cap.
On Rookery Isles
A few ways this server differs from things you may read on public ArcheAge wikis:
- The version is ArcheAge 3.0 (Revelation), not Erenor. Erenor was the 3.5 patch and arrived after this client. Ignore Erenor-era class commentary; build around the 3.0 skillsets above.
- Six creatable races only. Returned and Fairy exist in the data but cannot be made. Do not plan a Returned character.
- No per-race power perks are published here because the specific stat bonuses could not be confirmed in the server data. Pick race for looks and lore, not for a combat edge.
- Customized starting zones. This NL0bP 3.0 fork relocates start points, so old "race X starts in zone Y" tables from public wikis do not apply.
- Free hybrid spending. You may spend skill points across all three of your picked skillsets with no minimum-investment gate on one tree.
- Factions are superseded by Houses. The classic Nuia-versus-Haranya war framing is not how organized play works here; see the guild system and taxes page.
- Hedged claims: skillset unlock levels, any reset fee, and the Ancestral augment unlock are described as general ArcheAge behavior, not Rookery-confirmed numbers. Verify them in-game before committing a build plan.
