Class Tier List

A community meta tier list for Rookery Isles, the ArcheAge 3.0 Revelation private server, with verified skillset combinations for every class.

Class Tier List

An opinion-based meta ranking for Rookery Isles, built on the server-verified class and skillset map for ArcheAge 3.0 Revelation.

Table of Contents

Read This First: What Is Verified and What Is Opinion

This article mixes two very different kinds of information, and you should treat them differently.

Server-verified (you can act on it and it will be true): The list of 10 skillsets, the rule that you pick 3 of them, and the exact skillset combination that produces each named class. These come straight from the live Rookery Isles game database. When this page says a class is built from three specific skillsets, that is a fact you can rely on at character creation.

Opinion (community meta, not server data): Every S, A, B, C, and D tier ranking below. The database confirms class names and their composition only. It does not store, rank, or define class balance in any way. Tier placement reflects common ArcheAge 3.0 community consensus and is subjective. A skilled player on a "lower tier" class will beat an unskilled player on a "top tier" one. Read the rankings as a starting point for discussion, not as a server rule.

Rookery Isles runs the ArcheAge 3.0 "Revelation" client (AAEmu 3.0.3.0 NL0bP fork). This is not the Erenor patch (that was 3.5, released after this client). Maximum character level is 55. For the underlying class system without the opinions, see Classes Overview. For concrete skill point allocations, see Power Builds.

How Classes Work on Rookery Isles

You do not pick a fixed class at creation. Instead you choose three skillsets out of ten. The combination you pick maps to one of 120 named classes, and the name is fixed by the combination regardless of the order you pick them in. C(10, 3) gives exactly 120 combinations, and the game has exactly 120 class names to match.

A few mechanics commonly cited for ArcheAge 3.0 are general-franchise behavior and are not confirmed in the Rookery database, so treat them as likely-but-unverified rather than server fact:

  • Swapping a skillset. ArcheAge generally lets you change one of your three skillsets for a fee in Gold. The exact unlock cadence (second skillset at one level, third at another) and the swap cost are not stored in a table we can read on this build. Plan your three picks as if they are permanent, then confirm in-game.
  • The Ancestral system. ArcheAge 3.0 introduced Ancestral skill augments. The system is real in canonical 3.0, but the specific "unlocks at skillset level 55" claim is not confirmed in the Rookery database. Do not build around an exact Ancestral breakpoint until you have seen it in-game.

What is verified: combat level caps at 55, and skill points are granted per level as you progress. See Combat Stats for how stats scale by role.

The Ten Skillsets

These ten skillsets are the building blocks of every class. Names are exact, from the database.

SkillsetPrimary roleFlavor
BattlerageMelee physical DPSBurst melee, charges, sunder effects
WitchcraftCrowd control and debuffsLockdown, hexes, hybrid utility
DefenseTank and shieldDamage mitigation, taunts, shield mechanics
AuramancyMobility and defensive buffsTeleports, protective auras, escapes
OccultismMagic damage over time and summonsDoTs, summons, soft crowd control
ArcheryRanged physical DPSSustained and burst ranged damage
SorceryRanged magic DPSBurst nukes, AoE, control spells
ShadowplayStealth and gap closersStealth, mobility, opportunistic burst
SongcraftGroup buffs and supportBuff songs, support heals, debuffs
VitalismPrimary healingDirect heals, resurrection, group sustain

You combine any three of these into a class. The sections below group the most-discussed classes by the role they tend to fill, then rank them by community opinion.

Tank Classes

Tanks are built around the Defense skillset. The rankings here are meta opinion.

ClassVerified compositionOpinion tierNotes
SkullknightDefense + Auramancy + OccultismSFrequently cited as the raid and mass-PvP tank of choice for its survivability and control.
AbolisherBattlerage + Defense + AuramancyATank with real melee pressure; popular early and mid game.
PaladinBattlerage + Defense + VitalismBSelf-sustaining hybrid, strong for solo and small group, less raid-relevant.
TemplarDefense + Auramancy + VitalismBSupport tank with buffs and minor heals; niche but functional in coordinated groups.
Death WardenDefense + Shadowplay + VitalismCStealth-leaning tank with self sustain; rarely seen in the meta.

Note on Skullknight. Its composition is Defense plus Auramancy plus Occultism. The Auramancy line supplies control and defensive auras, while Occultism adds damage-over-time pressure on top of the tank kit. Its frequent "must-bring" reputation in mass PvP is community opinion, not a server-enforced requirement.

Healer Classes

Healing leans on Vitalism, usually paired with Auramancy for mobility or Songcraft for support. Rankings are opinion.

ClassVerified compositionOpinion tierNotes
HierophantWitchcraft + Auramancy + VitalismSOften called the premier mass-PvP healer for its mobility and flexibility. High skill ceiling.
ClericAuramancy + Songcraft + VitalismABuff-and-heal hybrid with strong group support; forgiving for newer healers.
SoothsayerAuramancy + Shadowplay + VitalismAMobile, hard-to-pin frontline healer thanks to the Shadowplay kit.
CaretakerDefense + Songcraft + VitalismBBeefy support healer with songs; durable, low offense.
ArgentBattlerage + Auramancy + VitalismBHybrid melee healer; good for grinding and small-scale, not a mass-PvP main.
ConfessorShadowplay + Songcraft + VitalismCStealth, song support, and heals; an off-meta hybrid that is rarely played.

Correction worth flagging if you saw the old version of this page. Hierophant, Cleric, and Confessor were previously listed with wrong skillsets. The verified truth: Hierophant is Witchcraft plus Auramancy plus Vitalism. The Vitalism plus Auramancy plus Songcraft combination is Cleric, not Hierophant. The Vitalism plus Auramancy plus Defense combination is Templar, not Cleric. Confessor is Shadowplay plus Songcraft plus Vitalism. Build off these, not the old names.

DPS Classes

The widest field. DPS classes draw from Battlerage, Archery, Sorcery, Occultism, Shadowplay, and Witchcraft, with Auramancy bolted on for survivability in many top picks. Every tier below is opinion.

S Tier (community-favored)

ClassVerified compositionNotes
DarkrunnerBattlerage + Auramancy + ShadowplayThe classic melee assassin. Battlerage burst (skills such as Tiger Strike) plus the Shadowplay stealth-and-mobility kit (Shadowsmite) and Auramancy escapes. Widely regarded as the defining 1v1 melee class of the patch.
PrimevalAuramancy + Archery + ShadowplayThe mobile bow ganker: ranged damage with stealth and Auramancy escapes. Standard open-world ranged pick.
DaggerspellWitchcraft + Sorcery + ShadowplayMage burst plus Witchcraft control chains and Shadowplay stealth. A small-scale and arena cheese specialist.

A Tier (raid and mass-PvP cores)

ClassVerified compositionNotes
RevenantAuramancy + Occultism + SorceryThe "mage ball" backbone: AoE Sorcery damage, Occultism control, Auramancy survivability. A mass-PvP staple.
Hex WardenBattlerage + Witchcraft + AuramancyMelee with crowd control and peel. Valued as gear inflates and pure glass cannons get riskier.
SpellsingerSorcery + Shadowplay + SongcraftA gear-hungry late-game caster built around sustained magic damage (Arc Lightning) and song support.

B Tier (good but situational)

ClassVerified compositionNotes
ReaperOccultism + Sorcery + ShadowplaySustain mage with AoE and stealth opportunism.
Blade DancerBattlerage + Shadowplay + SongcraftMelee DPS with self-buffing songs; underrated in small group play.
ArcanistWitchcraft + Auramancy + SorceryTanky caster, surprisingly durable with respectable damage.
DemonologistWitchcraft + Occultism + SorceryAoE disabler caster, strong in groups, weaker solo.
DoomlordBattlerage + Defense + OccultismA bruiser melee with Defense durability and Occultism pressure. Workable, rarely top-meta.
NightcloakWitchcraft + Auramancy + OccultismControl-chain caster that punishes squishy targets.

C Tier (functional but suboptimal)

ClassVerified compositionNotes
EnigmatistAuramancy + Sorcery + ShadowplayFun small-scale burst, fragile in large fights.
HellweaverBattlerage + Sorcery + ShadowplayHybrid that splits focus between melee and magic.
TricksterWitchcraft + Archery + ShadowplayA capable ranged hybrid that lives in Primeval's shadow.
ExecutionerBattlerage + Occultism + ShadowplayDecent burst, fuzzy role identity.
OutriderBattlerage + Archery + ShadowplayA melee-and-bow switch hitter without a single specialty.

D Tier (off the common meta map)

ClassVerified compositionNotes
Stone ArrowDefense + Archery + ShadowplayShield-and-bow concept that struggles to find a role.
ShadowknightWitchcraft + Defense + ShadowplayNo clean role in the 3.0 meta.
DreadnaughtDefense + Occultism + ShadowplayTries to tank and deal damage, commits to neither.
BlackguardBattlerage + Occultism + VitalismSelf-healing melee without enough burst to threaten.

Doomlord composition note. Doomlord is Battlerage plus Defense plus Occultism. If you wanted the Battlerage, Occultism, and Witchcraft combination instead, that class is Hordebreaker, a different class entirely. Confirm the three skillsets, not the name you remember.

Spelling matters. The database strings are Hex Warden (two words), Hexblade (one word), Dreadnaught (not "Dreadnought"), and Blade Dancer (two words). If a guide elsewhere uses different spellings or different combinations, this table wins on Rookery Isles.

If you have seen names like "Stormrunner," "Spellblade," "Demon Hunter," "Witch Hunter," "Hellblade," "Skirmisher," or "Sorcerer" attached to ArcheAge classes, ignore them. Those names do not exist in the 120-class map. The full verified map of all 120 classes lives in the Classes Overview.

What to Expect on the Server

Because the tier list is opinion, the population skew it predicts is also a tendency, not a guarantee. With that caveat, ArcheAge 3.0 meta typically pushes players toward:

  • A concentration of Darkrunners and Primevals in open-world solo PvP and ganking.
  • Daggerspells favored in 1v1 arena play.
  • Skullknights and Revenants common in organized raid compositions.
  • Hex Wardens filling peel and off-tank roles in larger fights.
  • Hierophants and Clerics carrying most raid healing.

If you want to play an off-meta class, do it. The rankings reflect raw competitive convenience, not enjoyment, and every one of the 120 classes is fully playable. You will lean on positioning, gear, and your group more, but none of these classes is broken or disabled on the server. For where to invest your points once you have chosen, see Power Builds; for gearing each role, see Gear Progression and Regrade and Gemming.

On Rookery Isles

A few server-specific points to keep straight:

  • This is ArcheAge 3.0 Revelation, not Erenor. The Erenor patch was 3.5, released after this client. There is no Erenor or Hiram gear in this build; the top crafted gear tier is Ayanad. Any "Erenor era" framing you find in older copy is wrong for this server.
  • The database confirms names and composition only, never balance. The S to D tiers on this page are community meta opinion. The only hard facts here are which three skillsets make which class.
  • Maximum character level is 55. Skillset swap rules, the second/third skillset unlock cadence, and the Ancestral augment system are general ArcheAge behavior that we could not confirm in the Rookery database, so verify the exact numbers in-game before committing a build around them.
  • PvP is not uniformly safe. Auroria and all open seas are lawless and free-PvP, so your class choice carries more weight there. See PvP and Arenas and the World Atlas for where the danger lives.
