Lunagem Socketing Live and Verified

Lunagems work

Socketing lunagems into your gear is fixed and live. Verified working on weapons and instruments.

What was wrong: the gem was being written into the slot the game uses for an item's appearance instead of an actual stat socket. That is why gear turned into the gem, looked broken, or seemed to do nothing. Sometimes it crashed the client outright.

What you get now:

  • Gems go into real stat sockets and grant their stats. Your Equipment Points rise accordingly.
  • Your item keeps its own look. Nothing turns into a gem.
  • No more crashing when you socket.
  • Sockets stay put through logout.

House rules

This is an RP server, so socketing here is kinder than retail:

  • Socketing always succeeds. There is no failure roll.
  • Nothing is ever destroyed. Retail would break every gem already in the item on a failed attempt. That gamble is gone.
  • Every piece gets 7 sockets, whatever its grade. You are not gated by gear rarity.
  • Remove Lunagem pulls your gems back out and returns them to your bag, free, any time.

If a piece was damaged by the old bug, use Remove Lunagem on it. That now repairs the item's appearance and hands the gem back.

Which gems fit what

Lunagems only fit the gear they were made for, and the game now tells you plainly when one does not fit instead of doing something strange.

  • One-hand weapons: Strong Blow, Sharpshot, Apex, Salvation
  • Two-hand weapons: Buffet, Marksman, Extreme, Aid
  • Instruments: same family as one-hand weapons
  • Shields: Impenetrable, Clash
  • Armor: Defense, Magic Defense, Vitality, Finesse, Celerity and similar

One quirk to know about

After socketing a gem, close the Regrade window and reopen it to socket the next one. Your gem is in, the window just needs refreshing.

This is deliberate. The alternative made items render as broken until you relogged, which was far worse. Reopening a window is the better trade.

Also fixed along the way

A character save fault was found and fixed. It could silently discard progress, including items you had already pulled out of the mail. If something you did recently seemed to undo itself, that was this, and it is corrected.

Verified on weapons and instruments. Shields and armor are next.
